The Global Engagement Survey

The Global Engagement Survey (GES) is a multi-institutional assessment tool that employs quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand relationships among program variables, student demographic factors, and student global learning. The survey is grounded in the conception of global learning as identified as a high impact practice by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U, 2014), with adaptations particularly relevant to community-engaged global learning. The GES considers global learning in respect to the three components of: global citizenship, cultural humility, and critical reflection.

As a benefit of membership the Collaborative facilitates a monthly community of practice for as a space to co-create and build relationships. While specific session topics are determined by the group, in general we share ways to utilize GES data to better understand and improve student global learning and/or administrative and leadership decision making, and strategies for disseminating our new knowledge and improved practices with the wider fields of global learning and community-engagement.

If you are interested in becoming a member and using the GES, please contact managing director Mike Bishop at mbishop1@haverford.edu. You can find out more about the GES benefits of different membership levels here.
