Collaboration for a Better World: Global Learning, Hope, and Justice
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA
November 8-10, 2024
Since 2011, the Community-based Global Learning Collaborative Summits (formerly Global Service-Learning Summits) have been a mainstay to bring together stakeholders in deep, integrative, ethical community-based global learning.
The Summit Series has developed an inclusive community of practice advancing best practices and aspiring to the highest standards of community-campus partnerships for global learning locally and internationally. Members of this community include diverse stakeholders: students, educators across disciplines, practitioners, community organization representatives, and community members.
Each CBGL Summit has stimulated conversations around critical issues facing the field. Through an applied conference framework, participants build community and determine action steps. The 7th Global Community-Based Global Summit theme is: Collaboration for a Better World: Global Learning, Hope, and Justice
Consistent with CBGL Summit precedents, the upcoming Summit at Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks proposals that prioritize community partner perspectives, community partnership/impact research, and case studies that involve community voice in the writing process (both co-written or co-edited by community partners) related to effective, inclusive partnerships that advance shared approaches to global learning, inclusion, and transformation.
Conference Themes
The work and challenge of supporting transformative, ethical community-based global learning through student engagement and outcomes.
Best practices, program models, and ethical approaches for global community-based global learning and community-campus partnerships.
Impact of community-based global learning and engagement on larger systems (e.g. epistemic justice, civic engagement, inequality, climate justice, educational systems, etc.).
